Description
Boston and Sandwich 1830's-40's mold blown flint glass elongated loop pattern tumbler, with gilt gold grape leaves and rim and foot ringed. Some of the gilt grape leaves and grapes have faded or been rubbed off and the gilt rim has mostly faded, but the foot ring is well intact. There is an impact chip to one of the point on the foot and an internal half moon flaw just below the lip. This flaw has all of the hallmarks of being created during the creation of the tumbler; but may have expanded some since then, there is no way to know. It does not appear to significantly weaken the glass here, as there is what looks to be melting and fusing at the seam of the half moon. This being said, any flaw like this will of course make the glass more vulnerable than other areas of the tumbler. It has a large wheel polished pontil on the base, which is a hallmark of mold blown flint glass. It measures approximately 4 1/8" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter.See The Attached Photos For Exact Item Details And Condition. These Pieces Are From A Smoke Free Home.
