Sandwich Glass Blown + Engraved Font Whale Oil Lamp​, Pressed Stepped Square Base,The Boston and Sandwich Glass Co., Sandwich, MA., c. 1830 - 1840. This Sandwich Glass whale oil lamp is very pretty and finely made! The lamp has a clear blown and engraved light bulb shaped font, which is joined to a pressed square stepped base by a stack of glass wafers. The engraving is very well done with a cut oval and leaf design. This is a wonderful Sandwich glass lamp with many fine features. (top of collar) x 2 9/16" Dia at the font, x 3 3/16" Sq. at the rounded corner base. CONDITION: The lamp is in very good condition with some minor wear and chipping to the base. There are also the imperfections often found in early flint glass of this period. This includes, bubbles, sand, and striations.
