    Very Rare Antique New England Glass Co., "Fruit Compote" Salt, BH-1, The New England Glass Co., Boston, MA., c. 1840-1860. This is a very rare flint glass salt, in the Fruit Compote pattern. This open salt dish of the New England Glass Company is a box-shaped, oblong, hexagonal salt, that flares slightly and has corner columns and small knob feet. The panels of the sides are decorated with fruit compotes in relief on the long side panels. The end panels with a raised bee hive on one end and a Scottish thistle on the other end. On the base, in an irregular oval-shaped recessed panel, are intertwined grape and leaf designs. This is a very rare Neal slat #BH-1! I offer this salt with no reserve and a Buy It Now. Good Luck! DIMENSIONS: The salt is 2 1/16" H. x 2 3/16" W. x 3" L... CONDITION: The salt is in very good condition with some minor nicks and some roughness to the scalloped rim. There is one scallop near one corner that is mostly chipped. There are also straw marks, bubbles, sand and other imperfections typical of early flint glass.
